We are absolutely thrilled to announce that London-based post-metal quartet Wren have joined the Gizeh family. We have been entranced by Wren's vision of what heavy music can be for some time and it's an honour to be able to welcome them into our stable.
On February 21st we will re-issue the bands 2018 EP Thrall on CD for the first time (previously released on cassette via Astral Noize Records) before they embark on a second full-length record later in the year. Details on that to follow in the near future.
Wren have released a series of recordings on Holy Roar Records, including their 2017 LP Auburn Rule, a split with label-mates Slabdragger, and most recently, the 20 minute long, single-track EP entitled Thrall. The band have just finished recording their second LP with Scott Evans of Kowloon Walled City. Alongside appearing at notable festivals including Damnation, Raw Power, Mammothfest and ArcTanGent, Wren have shared the stage with the likes of Kowloon Walled City, Fórn, Conan, Unsane, Moloch, Death Engine, and Minsk.
Following the Auburn Rule LP, Wren shifted gears towards a more absolute framework, crafting a singular track that became Thrall - a newly measured exploration of the unit's more recent sonic meditations, functioning within a triptych composition.
Thrall explores the ebb and flow of the bands sound, radiating in diverse gradients between drone-based omens and astringent, inharmonious collisions.
You can stream Thrall in full via our bandcamp page or purchase the download here. The CD edition is released on February 21st and comes housed in a recycled card sleeve, printed by Death Rattle Press. Pre-orders are available now.
